Andy Rooney and Prayer

GodTrust

Andy Rooney says:

I don’t believe in Santa Claus, but I’m not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don’t agree with Darwin , but I didn’t go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his Theory of Evolution.

Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game. So what’s the big deal? It’s not like somebody is up there reading the entire Book of Acts. They’re just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game.

But it’s a Christian prayer, some will argue.

Yes, and this is the United States of America , a country founded on Christian principles. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect — somebody chanting Hare Krishna?

If I went to a football game in Jerusalem ,I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer…

Jewish

If I wentto a soccer game in Baghdad , I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer.

If I went to a ping pong match in China , I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha.

And I wouldn’t be offended. It wouldn’t bother me one bit.

When in Rome …..

But what about the atheists? Is another argument.

What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We’re not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds. If that’s asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer!

Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do.. I don’t think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world’s foundations.

Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying.

God, help us. And if that last sentence offends you, well, just sue me.

The silent majority has been silent too long. It’s time we tell that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard that the vast majority doesn’t care what they want. It is time that the majority Rules! It’s time we tell them, You don’t have to pray; you don’t have to say the Pledge of Allegiance; you don’t have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right; but by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away. We are fighting back, and we WILL WIN!

God bless us one and all … Especially those who denounce Him. God bless America, despite all her faults.  She is still the greatest nation of all. God bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God.

Let’s make 2009 the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions . And our military forces come home from all the wars.

Keep looking up.

The following is from an unknown source but has a very true message.  Hope you enjoy.

EXCUSE ME, ARE YOU JESUS?

As you read this, think about what you would do!

“Excuse me, Are you Jesus?” This is really powerful and makes one
think!

A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales
convention in Chicago. They had assured their wives that they would be
home in plenty of time for Friday night’s dinner. In their rush, with
tickets and briefcases, one of these salesmen inadvertently kicked over
a table which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere Without
stopping or looking back, they all managed to reach the plane in time
for their nearly missed boarding.

ALL BUT ONE! He paused, took a deep breath, got in touch with his
feelings, and experienced a twinge of compassion for the girl whose
apple stand had been overturned.

He told his buddies to go on without him, waved good-bye, told one of
them to call his wife when they arrived at their home destination and
explain his taking a later flight. Then he returned to the terminal
where the apples were all over the terminal floor. He was glad he did.
The 16 year old girl was totally blind! She was softly crying, tears
running down her cheeks in frustration, and at the same time helplessly
groping for her spilled produce as the crowd swirled about her, no one
stopping and no one to care for her plight.

The salesman knelt on the floor with her, gathered up the apples, put
them back on the table and helped organize her display. As he did this,
he noticed that many of them had become battered and bruised; these he
set aside in another basket.

When he had finished, he pulled out his wallet and said to the girl,
“Here, please take this $40 for the damage we did. Are you okay?” She
nodded through her tears. He continued on with, “I hope we didn’t spoil
your day too badly.”

As the salesman started to walk away, the bewildered blind girl called
out to him, “Mister….” He paused and turned to look back into those
blind eyes. She continued, “Are you Jesus?”

He stopped in mid-stride, and he wondered. Then slowly he made his way
to catch the later flight with that question burning and bouncing about
in his soul: “Are you Jesus?” Do people mistake you for Jesus? That’s
our destiny, is it not? To be so much like Jesus that people cannot tell
the difference as we live and interact with a world that is blind to His
love, life and grace..

If we claim to know Him, we should live, walk and act as He would.
Knowing Him is more than simply quoting Scripture and going to church.

It’s actually living the Word as life unfolds day to day.

You are the apple of His eye even though we, too, have been bruised by a
fall. He stopped what He was doing and picked you and me up on a hill
called Calvary and paid in full for our damaged fruit.

Thanks, and  May GOD BLESS YOU.

4th of July

Today we celebrate the birth of our nation.  A nation created to give freedom to all. Our forefathers based this nation on there religious beliefs, which can be determined from the writings of our founding fathers.   The other countries didn’t believe we would last and so far we are the longest last Democracy that has existed.

Our Independence has been a hard road, from defeating the British and protecting the weaker nations. Each day we must strive to keep this country free from those who attack us from without as well as within.  In today’s world the attacks from within are the most dangerous, cause they are people who call themselves Americans  who are tring and in some cases succeeding to bend our laws for there purposes.  We as citizens must keep a vigilant watch on the bills that are being pushed through our government and call our representatives and tell them how we feel about those bad bills.  We must be ready to stand up to the judges who want to make there own rules and laws.  This was never intended by our forefathers.  Why do you thing there is a legislature branch of government. Check out this link for information on the branches of government and what there role is.

Check out these 4th of July History Video from the history channel.  They are short and will play one after the other.  The first two concerning the founding of our country.  The others include some of our customes we have on the 4th of July.

Go out tonight and what some fireworks with your family and/or friends.  Make it another stop on you Journey of Life.

Post me some recipes to try.

Keep steady on your Journy and hold the road.

Hello all. Hope your weekend was great.   I have now put my Shark Pocket Steam Mop through several uses, and it is still working fine. The mop seems to eliminate the backache you get with regular mops so that right there is a big plus.  It does however cause my hand to hurt.  I probable just have to get use to the new mopping method.  It’s not a sever pain, more like I’m using muscles I haven’t used before.  Now I do have to say I had numbness and wrist pain before the mop so it might just be a me think.

The extra long cord is nice. I am able to do my whole kitchen down the hall and into the bath room with out unplugging.  Slight correction I was plug into a six foot extension cord because the outlet was behind some a pice of furniture.  No biggie.  I find you when using the different size heads that the large one is harder to control remove spots.  I have to keep  the spot in the center of  mop.  I also found if I turn the mop so that i’m running the head endwise I can get my control back to take care of those pesky small spots.

Over all I love my mop and plan to keep it. These small anoyances are nothing comparied to its much easier use and sanitized floor.
